Hampshire Music is a family owned and operated business. The owners, Bobby
and Tina Steelman live locally in Capon Bridge. Both have extensive experience in
business management and Retail/Music Store Operations.
The Steelmans bring a lot of talent to their shop. Tina has been surrounded by
music all her life. She started singing at the age of 5 with her grandparents in
nursing homes and senior centers throughout Virginia and West Virginia. When
she reached the age of 7, she was singing at a local radio station in Winchester
Virginia. Tina now plays the upright bass and guitar. Tina has family members who
play instruments as well. Her grandfather plays guitar, her sister plays piano and
her niece plays classical guitar.
Bobby has also been surrounded by music all his life. His dad was his true
inspiration. Bobby's dad played guitar, his mom plays banjo and his sister plays
the upright bass and mandolin. For about 5 years Bobby played in "Tyrant". A
rock and roll band based out of Northern Virginia. He then moved to Nashville
Tennessee, where he made a living as a studio musician. He now loves to play
and listen to bluegrass. Bobby managed a music store for about 5 years, and has
now decided to take on his own store with the help of his wife Tina.
Their two boys Trenton and Sean also play music. Trenton is learning the fiddle
and electric guitar and Sean is learning the mandolin and loves to beat the drums.
You may have caught the family band "The Steelman's", playing locally in the
Capon Bridge area at the Capon Bridge Yard Party and the Hampshire County
Fair. As well other private locations throughout the county.
Bobby and Tina have formed a new and upcoming bluegrass band known as "Out
of the Blue". They are a 5 piece band with Bobby on guitar/vocals, Tina on upright
bass/vocals and members Kenny Johnson on banjo/vocals, Christie Hicks on
mandolin/vocals and Larry Crawford on fiddle. All the credit for the band name
goes to Jane Johnson, wife of banjo player Kenny. Members of this group bring a
lot to the band with over 50 years of combined experience. Please keep checking

One of Hampshire Music's future goals is to donate band instruments to
Hampshire County family's whose children would like to participate in school band,
but cannot afford to purchase or rent them. Then we would like to develop an
awards program with the Hampshire County School System.
Hampshire Music will be hosting local jam session each month. Please check back
